So I just found out that Manchester are doing another MCM Expo in July - which is absolutely awesome!
(I can never go to the London one because it’s too expensive to go.)
I went last year (the first expo I had ever been too) and spent, like, £100 on loads of random crap (awesome crap, but still crap. I would have spent more if I had brought more.) but it was an awesome day and completely worth the HORRIBLY long wait to get in. (And I got to meet Warwick Davis, which was just amazing…)
Now all I need to do is save my money till 21st July…

This is exactly what I feel like doing every time he says he’s not a beautiful human being.
For those of you interested in Sherlock’s use of a Mind Palace in ‘The Hounds of Baskerville’, you may find this Open University interview with Derren Brown enlightening (skip to 1 minute in for details on Memory Palaces.) Derren also discussed this subject in more depth in his book ‘Tricks of the Mind’.
Although many people have credited Derren for inspiring Mark Gatiss to include this in his episode in Sherlock series 2, he in fact confirmed on Twitter, “I first came across it in ‘Hannibal’, but Derren has been a help in so many ways.”
Acclaimed Mentalist Joe Riggs (@WorldOfJoeRiggs) has also written an excellent blog on Memory Palaces – or Mind Palaces as Sherlock has it - and how to design your own.

Reblogging this because I’m absolutely in love with Derren and everyone must know of him - and his Tricks of the Mind book is the best non-fiction book I have ever read.
(And his memory techniques really do work. They helped greatly during my A-levels and even with my coursework at University.)
